KELLEY JAMES RELEASES NEW SINGLE “THAT’S MY GIRL”
California native showcases the first single off his newest album The Pattern Transcending
Scottsdale, Ariz. – National recording artist Kelley James released his newest single “That’s My Girl” yesterday. The track is the first featured single from his forthcoming album The Pattern Transcending. The album is set to be released October 1, 2013.
James brings his blend of California beach vibes and danceable hip hop rhythms to the first preview of the new LP. The song features James’ signature vocal riffs weaving in and out of funky guitar stylings to paint a picture of a girl that any man would be proud to show off to the world. Capturing both the playful and romantic elements of a relationship, James keeps the love song light-hearted and upbeat.
Even though James has always kept his signature sound at the heart of his music, he wasn’t afraid to go in new directions with his latest single. The song features 110 beats per minute – a rhythm more often found in hip hop and R&B tunes than in pop music.
“I played with some tempos that I haven’t explored yet on this track,” said James. “It’s always important to tell a story, too. That’s what keeps listeners interested after the first few bars draws them in. I wanted to show that you can write a love song and keep it fun.”
James has built his career on the road playing over 750 shows in the past five years. As the creator of The Sorority and Fraternity Tour he has played at colleges nationwide and partnered with Oakley and Muscle Milk to sponsor the tour. He has shared the stage with acts such as LMFAO, Mike Posner, O.A.R., Kate Voegele and Joshua Radin and has opened show at venues from House of Blues Chicago to Red Rocks. He has sold out shows at the Troubadour, Roxy and Key Club in Los Angeles, and has held a monthly residency at the W Hotel Scottsdale since 2009 garnering a strong fan base in the area.
